By now, you’ll all have probably seen who the leading names would have been for defensive contributions in 2024/25 – the likes of James Tarkowski, Murillo and the now-departed Dean Huijsen.
But what about, for instance, a defender with the potential to be a clearance machine who had a spell out with a mid-season injury? They likely won’t feature in any end-of-year table.

»So long as the goalscorer receives the ball in the box, and there isn't more than one defensive touch (and it's not a pass from the opposing defender!), then no. Outside the area and it's the subjective call over intended destination/target. Put the Murphy cross in the article above as one of the jammy assists that would now get given.
