Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) third and final announcement on Friday was a bit more low-key than the first two.
Earlier in the day, FPL revealed that defensive contribution points were coming. Managers are also set to get two lots of chips in 2025/26.
This one was a little less dramatic: two new leagues for those who finished in the top 1% and top 10% of overall managers in 2024/25.
WHO QUALIFIES?
Managers who finished in the top 114,319 places last season have qualified for the Top 1% 24/25 League.
Managers who finished in the top 1,143,193 places last season have qualified for the Top 10% 24/25 League.
CAN YOU QUALIFY FOR NEXT SEASON’S LEAGUES?
FPL say that you can qualify for these same leagues in 2026/27 based on your finish in the upcoming campaign.
PRIZES
It’s not just for ‘fun’ either.
There are prizes for winning each of the leagues, including Puma merchandise, a replica shirt, the EA SPORTS FC game and an FPL bundle. An “exclusive FPL certificate” is also promised…
Let’s see if Saturday brings us any closer to the launch of FPL 2025/26, be it through more rule changes or the long-awaited price reveals.
All the chip changes, defensive contribution is for expanding many various way to play FPL. But this AFCON transfer, just to make all manager and their dog spend all the transfer on GW 15. Contradictive.
»On the other hands, there is sometimes value in sticking with an underperforming player who promises greater returns, than immediately swapping. There is still plenty of strategies that can come in to play. Doing less is sometimes better than doing more.
»I suck most years playing this game but each year I try to learn from my mistakes, play different strategies, etc. I get trying to “improve “ the game but truth be told, I like the yearly struggle and work to get better. To take from a Tom Hanks movie, “If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great.” Well…maybe we don’t need that anymore? Sad
»I liked the 5FT rule change last season. I am slightly miffed at just giving everyone 5FT at the same time, though. Unless I can save up 10.
»Assuming Salah is in most teams at this point, it makes it so easy to spread the funds freed up from selling the most expensive player in the game.
