Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) third and final announcement on Friday was a bit more low-key than the first two.

Earlier in the day, FPL revealed that defensive contribution points were coming. Managers are also set to get two lots of chips in 2025/26.

This one was a little less dramatic: two new leagues for those who finished in the top 1% and top 10% of overall managers in 2024/25.

WHO QUALIFIES?

Managers who finished in the top 114,319 places last season have qualified for the Top 1% 24/25 League.

Managers who finished in the top 1,143,193 places last season have qualified for the Top 10% 24/25 League.

CAN YOU QUALIFY FOR NEXT SEASON’S LEAGUES?

FPL say that you can qualify for these same leagues in 2026/27 based on your finish in the upcoming campaign.

PRIZES

It’s not just for ‘fun’ either.

There are prizes for winning each of the leagues, including Puma merchandise, a replica shirt, the EA SPORTS FC game and an FPL bundle. An “exclusive FPL certificate” is also promised…

Let’s see if Saturday brings us any closer to the launch of FPL 2025/26, be it through more rule changes or the long-awaited price reveals.

Given FFS had advanced notice of rule changes I expect they already know the answer to this.

I don't think it was 'leaks to his mates' but rather official information sharing so that sites like FFS would have tools ready to analyse defensive stats under the new rules.

Really interesting episode of above average FPL tonight.

Clearances matter by far the most for defenders with this rule change. For midfielders, recoveries is the important one.

They're really help get players over the line and hit 10/12 CBIT/CBIT-R

The top 1% of anything is pretty good, right?

But especially in a game with 11 million players (most of whom just copy FPL Harry or blindly follow an algorithm) should that now be the new top 10K?

Yeah, top 1% is rougly top 100k, so definitely very good ranking nowadays

As someone ranked #15 in the all-time ranks, which league do you think will be harder to win, the top 1% with better quality players, or the top 10% with far more players who may randomly have a standout season?

You know the answer, if you said the next 9% as the 2nd group, then there would be a discussion. You'll have a great chance of winning FPL winning those.

Yeah I misunderstood the criteria, mistakenly thinking those in the top 1% league would be excluded from the top10% league.

Im playing for 8 years, never finished top 50k, but managed to finish top 6k last year, mainly due ro chips usage and monstrous Glasner AM (2X), so subjectivelly can say that AM chip will be missed..but still looking forward to the changes!

I'm looking forward to selecting a fantasy team that more closely resembles a real team with a couple of CB and one ore two DMs. No more four LB and five AM. That is provided they still price purely defensive players lower than more attacking players.

Question. While the announcement mentioned defenders generally benefit from CBIT, does CBIT also apply to midfielders and forwards?

I read in the subsequent paragraphs of the announcement, and it said that “in addition to the CBIT, midfielders and forwards also collect points for ball recoveries”.

Yes but the requirements to gain two points are slightly different.

With reduced chances of DGW & BGW in GWs 1-19 and new double chip action, BB for GW1 might be more popular than usual. Wonder if they’ll permit use from the start?

They will definitely allow BB be used in GW1. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a bandwagon to do so if some of the big content creators push that strategy.

I fully expect it to become very popular. The BB is often seen as somewhat of an inconvenience and it is human nature to want to get off to a good start too. It does mean committing to a very risk averse GW1 squad though. Picking your Jarod Bowen's of the world over Phil Foden etc.

Still think they are relatively well stocked in CDM. Yates, Rodriguez, Sangare, Danilo, Anderson can all play there. Attack has been blunted though, which may make Nuno even more defence first which is his natural instinct.

I'm quite keen on GW1 BB, but we'll need to see what the pricing looks like first.

The defence shouldn't be too difficult, but getting the 5th mid and 3rd forward right is the tricky part.

Having read through the Opta definitions, there is not much distinction between an Interceptions and Recoverys. If a player is pressing a player what is the distinction between a player deemed to have passed it straight to a player i.e a recovery or moving to intercept? Surely the press could be seen as an interception.

I've also discovered there might be a discrepancy over what fbref and other similar sites class as a block which some people have been using to base estimations on - it combines shots and passes blocked and what the game classes as a block which could be just shots blocked. If you look at the numbers here on the official site - https://www.premierleague.com/en/stats/top/players?statMetric=blocks&season=2024 they are for shots blocked only.

With very little evidence to work with, have to go with the Championship order of 1. Leeds 2. Burnley 3. Sunderland. I have reservations about Farke and whether he will sufficiently adapt his style but Leeds have been building from the back with transfers so far. Burnley have lost Egan-Riley, Trafford and possibly Brownhill so remains to be seen if they can adequately replace them. Sunderland are showing ambition but also have lost Bellingham, may take time to integrate all the new players.

I like Sunderland's transfers. Still a very young team, could see them going down and coming back stronger next time for the experience. Concerned about Burnley most of the three, overperformed in the defence anyway which won't be repeatable against PL strikers. Leeds obviously have the best chance to survive and it'll depend as much on what happens to those likely to drop down (Wolves, West Ham etc) as what Leeds do. Suspicion is they still don't get to 40, maybe not even 35 points so its how far down the others drop.

I'm calling it now. Somebody who isn't in the top 1 or 10% clubs will win the main game and whoever wins the 1% league will be christened by the community as the real winner. Its all part of the self-fulfilling get top 'x'K at all costs (whatever you want to put X as) rubbish.

Good morning. I hope you don't mind me posting this here. I run an auction style fantasy football game based on FPL. Each player is sold to the highest bidder over 20 lots in the run up to the start of the season, so only one manager in each league can own Salah, for example.

This will be the 16th year of FF Pro, and we are currently looking for a few more managers to take on teams so that we can fill up another division. Please take a look at our website - http://www.myffpro.co.uk - although you'll be somewhat limited to what you can see without a login.

Lot01 opens at 9pm on Monday, so if I can interest enough new players to take a team, we can fill up the fourth league. If you are interested, please email me at ian_spittle@hotmail.com, and I can send you a copy of the rules, and answer any questions you have. Cheers, Ian.

We urgently need new stats in the members area.

    CBIT
    CBIT-R
    CBIT per 90
    CBIT-R Per 90

We only get a maximum of 10 columns in custom stats tables. Can't use 5 of these on a stat that you have to manually export and add together and divide to get the figure you need.

CBIT feels like an extension of the BAPS, which always felt random to me, just a little random top up bonus at the end.
Just like my player selection decision wasn't really influenced by Baps, same with Cbits.
I'd have quite liked, instead, if they just added an extra point for a defenders goal and assist. 7 and 4 instead of 6 and 3.

Whatever happened to Jack Grealish? Pep doesn't want him, who will buy him?
    Wasted talent or overrated player?

See latest official FPL post. Assists have been simplified.

      https://www.premierleague.com/en/news/4362187/whats-new-in-202526-fantasy-changes-to-assists-rules
"If these new 2025/26 rules had been in operation last season, there would have been 41 extra Fantasy assists awarded."

More points for defensive players. More assists. More chips. More points everywhere!. OR1 might break 3000 points this season.

If the old rules were not fit for purpose, why do the new rules revert to the rules in specific circumstances? That also makes it more complicated and confusing for people. Further confusion, for me: It's not clear if 'two defensive touches' would disqualify the assist if they come from the same player. And who's to judge if a defensive intervention is a pass or not, especially if it's the first touch of a chaotic defensive situation (since two touches would seemingly already disqualify the assist)? The example they give is 'a loose pass' but that is only one example, so do they just mean 'a loose pass' only? Where are the lines between a block, an intentional deflection into a safe area, a loose clearance and a pass? And why is an assist disqualified when the defender is deemed to have attempted a pass but not a clearance?

I do like the amendments for defensive errors and forced handball, though 😀
