Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) third and final announcement on Friday was a bit more low-key than the first two.

Earlier in the day, FPL revealed that defensive contribution points were coming. Managers are also set to get two lots of chips in 2025/26.

This one was a little less dramatic: two new leagues for those who finished in the top 1% and top 10% of overall managers in 2024/25.

WHO QUALIFIES?

Managers who finished in the top 114,319 places last season have qualified for the Top 1% 24/25 League.

Managers who finished in the top 1,143,193 places last season have qualified for the Top 10% 24/25 League.

CAN YOU QUALIFY FOR NEXT SEASON’S LEAGUES?

FPL say that you can qualify for these same leagues in 2026/27 based on your finish in the upcoming campaign.

PRIZES

It’s not just for ‘fun’ either.

There are prizes for winning each of the leagues, including Puma merchandise, a replica shirt, the EA SPORTS FC game and an FPL bundle. An “exclusive FPL certificate” is also promised…

Let’s see if Saturday brings us any closer to the launch of FPL 2025/26, be it through more rule changes or the long-awaited price reveals.

Yes Mark (FPL Putin) is leaking updates to all his mates. It's so obvious at this point.

Don't mind him all this talk. He just needs someone to take his virginity away so he can feel much better on his perspective.

Given FFS had advanced notice of rule changes I expect they already know the answer to this.

I don't think it was 'leaks to his mates' but rather official information sharing so that sites like FFS would have tools ready to analyse defensive stats under the new rules.

Really interesting episode of above average FPL tonight.

Clearances matter by far the most for defenders with this rule change. For midfielders, recoveries is the important one.

They're really help get players over the line and hit 10/12 CBIT/CBIT-R

The top 1% of anything is pretty good, right?

But especially in a game with 11 million players (most of whom just copy FPL Harry or blindly follow an algorithm) should that now be the new top 10K?

Yeah, top 1% is rougly top 100k, so definitely very good ranking nowadays

Top 10K is the new top 10K.

Isn't that just the old top 10k?

Sounds like 10K is the new top 1K, which is ridiculous.

            Just as an aside

SI prefix for kilo [thousand] is lowercase k, unlike Mega [million] which is a capital M.

Fair enough, I was going along with the original question.

As someone ranked #15 in the all-time ranks, which league do you think will be harder to win, the top 1% with better quality players, or the top 10% with far more players who may randomly have a standout season?

You know the answer, if you said the next 9% as the 2nd group, then there would be a discussion. You'll have a great chance of winning FPL winning those.

Yeah I misunderstood the criteria, mistakenly thinking those in the top 1% league would be excluded from the top10% league.

Whoever wins could qualify for duplicate prizes not to mention the outright league prizes.

Top 1% is excellent; though if you removed dead teams and people who don’t play every week the entire season I suspect that top 1% is much smaller

Im playing for 8 years, never finished top 50k, but managed to finish top 6k last year, mainly due ro chips usage and monstrous Glasner AM (2X), so subjectivelly can say that AM chip will be missed..but still looking forward to the changes!

I'm looking forward to selecting a fantasy team that more closely resembles a real team with a couple of CB and one ore two DMs. No more four LB and five AM. That is provided they still price purely defensive players lower than more attacking players.

Question. While the announcement mentioned defenders generally benefit from CBIT, does CBIT also apply to midfielders and forwards?

I read in the subsequent paragraphs of the announcement, and it said that “in addition to the CBIT, midfielders and forwards also collect points for ball recoveries”.

Yes but the requirements to gain two points are slightly different.
